CU Phosco P111 Lantern Installations

This beautiful heritage lantern is (rather unfortunately) not used often here, but in neighbouring Lichfield, a privately owned CU Phosco P111 can be seen at the end of a driveway on Stowecroft. I met one of the kind neighbours while photographing it, and he told me about how the guy bought it, and that it did actually work. It appears to run a halogen lamp which points in the direction of the driveway. Quite a unique and neat little find. I spotted it briefly as I passed by an alleyway, and I walked past and stopped for a second before I realized what I had just seen. To think if I was looking the other way I would have completely missed it!

Lichfield Cathedral

A far-rarer modified version of the P111 can be seen outside of Lichfield Cathedral. It uses the canopy of the larger P109. The lantern was installed in it's current location around late 2016, when the lampposts outside of the Cathedral were all moved and converted to LED GLS lamps. The columns and lanterns were all reused, with a few new ones going up. Presumably, one of the P109s was once damaged. Due to this, a P111 was ordered, and the canopy and bowl strips were re-used by the Cathedral in order to preserve the area's aesthetic. The lantern runs 5 standard LED GLS lamps, but this wasn't always the case...

Due to the lantern using a larger canopy, it's missing the iconic CU Phosco acorn. It has never had this acorn installed on top. Being one of the re-used lanterns, it was previously located on the opposite side of the Cathedral and used to run 70W SON-T. This modification of the P111 can not be seen anywhere else in the UK (that I currently know of).
