Kitchener Street, Birmingham
Kitchener Street was previously lined with terraced houses, which were knocked down in the 1980s. Click here to view an image of this road in 1986. For a while, it remained as a connecting road between Wellington Street and Perrott Street. It was subsequently closed off due to a fly tipping problem, which still persists today. Left behind are a series of abandoned Thorn Beta 5s on various columns.
The column door has fallen off the first example. The isolator can be seen inside:
The Beta 5 lantern has avoided vandalism for several decades, a dormant 26W SOX-E lamp can be seen through the bowl.
The Beta 5s continue down what's left of the road.
