Coughtrie SG10 Lantern Installations

These rare GLS luminaires utilised a diecast aluminium alloy housing, with a sturdy glass diffuser. The SG10 was the thicker version of the SG6, but this extra bulkiness was needed for lamps up to 40W greater than the SG6 was designed for, for a total maximum power-consumption of 100w.

This SG10 is located on the wall of Union Street Baptist Church. The churches around the town seem to have an abundance of Coughtrie lanterns, more than any other town I've seen. This church is no exception, and has at least three Coughtrie bulkheads on it! This appears to be the rarer version with an opal diffuser fitted.
