CU Phosco P178 Lantern Installations
The CU Phosco P178 was available with multiple lamp options. 60-200W GLS, 50-125W MBF-U, 26-55W SOX and 40W MCFA were the lamp types available. The lantern is integral geared, the lamp being mounted horizontally inside. This horizontal lamp was responsible for the lantern's wide-appearance. Consequently, it was (and arguably still is) one of the most recognizable post-tops to exist.
Rugby
An abandoned complex off the A426 possesses three installations: 8m concrete columns fitted with Phosco P178 post-top lanterns. They are believed to have run MBF lamps, but this cannot yet be confirmed.
Being out of reach of vandalism, each of the lanterns are in good condition!
The second and third of these is visible around the rear-side of the building.
Tamworth
This CU Phosco P178 is the only one known to me in Tamworth. It doesn't work. This one is located on a side street, yet clearly visible to Tamworth Road, Two Gates. As it is not working I am unsure of what lamp type this may have run. It's mounted on a 5m Stanton concrete column.
The bowl is not on properly, which may be the reason for the lantern's untimely demise.
