ELECO HW 877-879 Lantern Installations

ELECO's HW 877-879 is now almost entirely a thing of the past. Few remain and the ones that do are almost always privately-owned. The catalogue numbers for these lanterns went as follows: HW-877 & HW-878: 100W-200W GLS, 80W-125W MBF/U or 80W-125W MB/U, and the HW-879: 45W-60W SOI. The difference between the HW-877 and HW-878 can be seen in the spigot, where the HW-878 is fitted with a spigot for ELECOSLIM columns.

Birmingham

At the end of Tram Way is a small lot with three ELECO HW-877 lanterns. The lamp-type they now run (if they're still in service) is unknown, but they are believed to have run GLS originally. An LED flood is fitted to the building in an all-too-familiar sight, so they may be defunct. Only two of the three are pictured here, the other being wall-mounted.
