GEC Z5560 Lantern Installations

The GEC Z5560 was the GEC Z558X range's precursor. The lantern could come in GLS or MB-U forms, with it's small size resulting in no room for a control-gear. Instead, the Z5560 was often seen on swan-neck brackets with gear-boxes to accommodate it.

Burnaston

Located along Merlin Way is this GEC Z5560, mounted to an old chapel. It originally may have run a GLS lamp; more recently it was fitted with a CFL lamp. Whether it still runs a CFL lamp is unknown.

The lantern has been painted in recent years, but even this paint-job is starting to show signs of wear.

Tamworth

This privately owned GEC Z5560 is pictured poking out from among the vegetation. It likely runs GLS or LED GLS, but it might run mercury vapour. It appears to have been refurbished by the owner.
