GEC Z5699 Lantern Installations

The GEC Z5699 was the integral-geared version of the Z5715 series of lanterns. They're distinguishable from the Z5715s with a noticably thicker base in which the gear is situated. They were available for use with SON lamps, incorporating a polycarbonate refractor cone to diffuse the light effectively. With some luck, you may be able to see the vertical lamp inside these fixtures through such a refractor.

Crewe

This example is located on the splitter island in the entrance to Crewe Station Car Park.

Fitted inside is a CFL lamp which looks to be a regular household one.
