GEC Z5760 Lantern Installations
The GEC Z5760 was an aluminium bulkhead: 37cm tall, 27.8cm wide, and 23.8cm deep. They were first distributed in 80W-125W MBF/U and 35W SOX forms, but an additional type was produced later-down-the-line which ran SON lamps. These fittings were wildly popular around the UK, and even with the LED replacement schemes, some still remain.
Lichfield City Centre
You may notice throughout Lichfield City Centre's main streets, there's a lack of lampposts. Well, take a good look on the walls of the buildings! GEC Z5760s are scattered about the walls. They currently run (presumably 100W) SON lamps, though they might have run something such as SOX or MBF originally. You can see the supply cable entering the bulkheads at their base. Thank you to AgentHalogen_87 for telling me about these fixtures!
Also clearly visible are the hinges on the side of the lanterns, giving an idea as to how they would open up in the event of servicing.
Mayfield
Around the grounds of Mayfield Yarns are several GEC Z5760s. This small village was built around a factory. Previously, the workers of the factory lived in these houses, and some still do! It's very out-the-way, you have to know where it is to get there!
The first Z5760 is located on the main-factory. A yellow spray-painted line indicates the AC Ford box is clear of asbestos. Also notice the box is mounted upside-down.
There are two more AC Ford boxes with Z5760 lanterns installed.
At the very back of the village is where another Z5760 used to be mounted. It was removed when a new column was installed, and the only thing that remains is this wire clamp.
