OrangeTEK Voyager Lantern Installations

Long Eaton

The OrangeTEK Voyager is especially prevalent in Derbyshire as a replacement lantern. These lanterns are pictured in Long Eaton. This interesting installation is actually wall mounted! Located on a footpath connecting to Wilne Road, it is the only wall-mounted street lantern in the general vicinity.

To make it more interesting, an old gear-box and bracket can be seen mounted just below, but it hasn't been discarded! Rather, it has been adapted to accommodate the lanterns cut-out, the bracket being re-used to run the wire up and out at an angle. A GEC Z8896 was likely mounted on here before the Voyager was installed. The lanterns's unique "column" number can be seen on a wall-plate besides the cut-out box. Derbyshire columns/installations all have their own number, sharing it with no other in Derbyshire! This one is installation 57972.

Notice something else odd? The absence of the sticker on the bottom that states the wattage!

On the footpath from Wilmot Street to Farndale Close is this 14W OrangeTEK Voyager. Interestingly, this was the first Voyager I saw in person! The unique column number is 131977.
