Philips CDS505/6 Lantern Installations

Also known as the Metronomis-2, the CDS505/6 was a top-entry or side-entry amenity lantern for lamp-types including: 70W-150W CDM, 125W-250W HPL(N), 70W-400W SON or 85W QL. The main body of the lantern is made from diecast aluminium. A special thank you to AgentHalogen_87 for identifying these lanterns!

Tamworth

The Philips CDS506 used to populate the town centre in great numbers here in Tamworth, yet owing to LED replacement schemes, none are left on public roads. Previously located outside of St. Editha's Church, these CDS506s ran 150W CDO-TT and 150W SON lamps, which could be seen in action with this day-burning lantern.

I also took a picture of this example on a single-arm column. This was replaced in January of 2024. The column was moved across the road and an OrangeTEK Citisun was installed as a replacement for the sodium CDS506.

The column adjacent to the previous example still had all three of it's original CDS506 lanterns as of 30/12/2024.

All of Tamworth's public examples of the CDS506 have now been replaced.
