Philips FGS105 Lantern Installations

The FGS105 by Philips was perhaps one of the rarest variations of the MI series, likely due to competition from other manufacturers producing 55W CFL lanterns at the time. Post-top and side-entry versions were available, where the post-top featured an aluminium spigot, and the side-entry variation had an inset GRP one. An even-rarer version for 90W SOX (XGS105) was produced, but it never took off here in the UK.

Tamworth

While not widely used, the FGS105 is probably one of my favourite Philips lanterns. It existed in a few locations, such as lining Cygnet Drive, Tamworth. These lanterns run 55W compact fluorescent lamps. As of February 2024, these lanterns were replaced by Holophane S-Lines.

As far as I am aware, all of these worked except one at the very end of the street.
