Philips SGS204 Lantern Installations

Philips' SGS204 was the larger version of the SGS203 for use on A-Roads, and thus could take up to a 400W SON lamp. They are very large lanterns at just-over 81cm long! Much like their smaller brother (the SGS203) options were available for post-top or side-entry mounting.

These two 250W SGS204s are located outside of Aston Station, Birmingham. They are tasked with lighting this area of Lichfield road. There is another nestled in the trees, but it's situation likely means it doesn't provide any light for the carriageway at the moment.

They both run 250W SON-T lamps, this first one is missing it's bowl, making the 250W lamp more prevelant.

The example opposite is what this lantern would have looked like with it's deep bowl.
