Phosco P226 Lantern Installations

This lantern was also known as the Philips MI 8. They were extremely common in Wales before the mid-2010s. The P226 is the integral-geared, 36W SOX-E/55W SOX lantern in the P223-6 series of lanterns by Phosco. The canopy is constructed from die-cast aluminium, with the unique, angular shape of the lantern making it easily-distinguishable from any other.

Burntwood

New Road in Burntwood has some old installations. Phosco P226s on wall-brackets located on the building of AU Kitchen. The first of the two was in good condition. If you look closely you can see a 36w SOX-E lamp inside.

Another angle of the same lantern:

The second P226 is in derelict condition, missing it's bowl and lamp. The bowl had been removed (or fallen off) sometime before 2009.

The ignitor is poking out from above the gear-tray.

Lichfield Road Industrial Estate

This example is on the side of Lycett Fabrications, Mariner. I believe this installation to be abandoned.
