Simplex Gemini 70 Lantern Installations

The Simplex Gemini 70 is the 70W SON-T version of the Gemini. It shares the same canopy as the 35W SOX version, and originally started production as such. Both top-entry and side-entry mounting options were available, consisting of an aluminium canopy and being fitted with a polycarbonate bowl.

These Simplex Gemini 70 Lanterns are installed around Blackford Street. There's a mix of lanterns here, including Philips MI57s, WRTL SRL8s and WRTL 2600s.

They're all fitted with radio-node cells, but would have operated on photocells previously.

Evidence of this change can be seen on the next installations, where the first has it's NEMA socket plugged:

...And the second still has the photocell installed! The loose bracket means this example sits level with the ground, rather than being angled upwards.
