Thorlux Priory Lantern Installations
These bulky-looking lanterns could be installed post-top or top-entry, and resemble more of a bulkhead than a lantern. Not much information on them is available, but they are known to have run high-pressure sodium lamps, metal halide lamps, or CFL lamps.
Crewe
Crewe Train Station has only a few of these lanterns left, with most being replaced by LED low-bay lights. These remaining examples run what appear to be 70W HQIE lamps. There are roughly seven in total, with two not working. This is one of the non-working examples, but at the time I did not know this as the others hadn't begun to warm up yet.
It was at this moment (most of) the rest started to warm up.
I had originally believed these to run 2D fluorescent lamps, so the yellow-green hue of a metal-halide lamp was a surprise!
Two more examples along the platform:
Another example was spotted not working, this was the last Priory on the platform.
