WRTL MRL8 Lantern Installations
The WRTL MRL 8 was formerly-known as the Thorn Alpha 8. The design of the later-GRP Alpha 8 was sold to WRTL in the early 2000s, where it was re-branded and continued production for several years before ceasing production entirely.
Dordon, Warwickshire
Watling Street hosts some MRL8s on 10m columns, with the inclusion of large brackets extending the total height of the installations to around 12m. Pictured below is column 63B09:
These lanterns are all full-cut-off (or flat-glass).
63B08 was the next column along; an identical installation to the previous, minus one detail...
It appears to be fitted with a SELC 841 photocell.
The next column along is 63B07
A better view of this example shows these fixtures run 250W SON-T.
I then got to see one in action, in the form of a day-burner (63B04):
63B06 was opportunely close to a footbridge, so getting close-ups of the lantern was easy! It also seems everyone wants to get out of Dordon desperately....
On the opposite side of the road, column 63A05 was even closer to the bridge.
The final lantern to be photographed was this failing example. The lamp has reached end-of-life, and can no-longer reach full brightness. Instead, a dim greenish glow is visible through the flat-glass bowl.
