Urbis Albany Lantern Installations

The Albany is a heritage lantern designed by Urbis, following one of the designs based on a common type of gas lantern. They could come in SON or metal halide variants previously, but are now sold running 9W-100W LED. They can be post-top or pendant mounted.

Birmingham

Column 12 of Lionel street supports an Urbis Albany lantern. It would have replaced one of the older DW Windsor Strands on the street.

Burton-upon-Trent

A collection of Urbis Albanys are present opposite Burton's train station.

These are believed to run 150W HPS lamps, on 10m columns.

The closest column to the camera, using one of Urbis' decorative twin-arm brackets.

The same area at night. The lanterns in the centre are Urbis ZX1s, but the Albanys were captured in the background.

King's Bromley

A pair of Albanys light a pedestrian crossing along the A515. Interestingly, they are not the Albany Zebra type, as they are used to light the street as well.

You may have also noticed the traffic lights on the crossing. The nearby control/feeder showed a fault.

Lichfield

These can be seen quite abundantly in Staffordshire, usually running SON lamps (although LED and MH versions are also available). The following installation exists in Lichfield, in a small park by the Western Bypass. It's the slightly rare sight of an Albany being mounted post-top. It runs 70W SON-T.

Tamworth

The Urbis Albany lantern is only notably used here on The Lady Bridge. The pictures I have also feature the town's Christmas lights!

They exist in LED form, replacing Urbis ZX12s sometime around 2019.
