This lantern is my second Z9454, coming quite cheap from eBay. The lantern did come with a 66W SOX-E lamp as a free extra, but this was smashed during postage which provided quite a difficult clean up situation. The bowl has also sustained some damage but this was known about and is probably why the lantern went for such a low price. Despite the damage I'll be keeping the bowl original.
In the event of this lantern becoming a Z9455 it would have been drilled for top-entry in the centre, where a raised area was left for such an outcome.
The damage to the bowl is quite serious. A central point-of-impact can be seen, and it looks as if the lantern was vandalised during it's service
With no gear inside, the wiring is simple, only the cell socket and lamp wires are needed in this lantern.
The ID sticker on this example is actually in remarkable condition!
A Zodion SS9 cell was included with the lantern. Notice a piece of lamp just-behind the cell. The lantern was rinsed with water to ensure there was no sodium left, but it was assessed for stamps prior to doing this.
The cell dates to March 2003.
