One of my largest lanterns, the MA50-GO*1 is the gear-in-head version of the MA50 for 135W SOX. It shares the same canopy as the remote-geared MA60 for 180W SOX. The lantern measures roughly 140cm long! The *1 in the name indicated a factory-fitted NEMA photocell socket.
The integral MA50 is almost exactly twice the length of the remote MA90, seen below in this comparison:
The Philips logo is located in the GRP at the front of the canopy:
Remnants of paint from the column are present on the lantern's spigot. The column itself was probably from the 60s, with the MA50 being a later-addition to replace another lantern.
The photocell socket, dating to December 1992:
Inside, the reason for the lantern's length becomes clear. A 135W SOX lamp stretches from the front of the lantern, all the way to the gear-tray, which takes up the remainder of the space.
