When I got this Philips MI26, it was incredibly grubby, with moss covering the canopy, so it was time for a clean up!
After a lovely warm and soapy wash to the canopy, It cleared up beautifully! I reassembled the lantern after wiping down the bowl (which was in great condition!) and it even came with a working 26W SOX-E lamp!
Now for a test run, make sure that if you plug lanterns in, you test each part and ensure all wires are correctly connected. If you don't know, then don't try it!
Perfect. But it still wasn't done yet. It needed a few coats of spray paint.
All done! Now for the nitty gritty details about the lantern! Is runs on a Zodion SS6 photocell, it's socket dating back to November 1995, making it 28 years old this month! The ignitor is a Philips SX 72, the second lantern to use one of these in the collection. It's capacitor is a Cambridge Capacitors 8213 1144 9371, dating back to October 1995. The ballast is too rusty to read, however I'll hazard a guess that it's made by Philips like the ignitor.
