This is the smaller (35W) version of the Simplex Aries. This one is remote-geared, having only the cell-socket-wiring and lamp inside. They are incredibly small lanterns, and with the GRP canopy, lack-of-gear (as standard) and polycarbonate bowl, are light-weight. This one is in aged condition, the GRP taking the brunt of the weather over the decades.
From above, the most-apparent feature is the Zodion two-part detector protruding from the canopy, although the pillar in-which it sits is large enough for a NEMA socket.
The lantern has some damage to the GRP around the spigot, but this is commonplace among these lanterns due to the aluminium inside. If it's not from being bashed off the column, it's down to continuous expansion and contraction of the aluminium within (due to the constant temperature-changes over the decades).
To gain access to the lamp-area, two clips are present on one side of the lantern; the bowl simply hangs open on hinges.
The Aries came as a remote-geared lantern by-default, but could accommodate a gear. This one is remote-geared.
