The Simplex Solumbra could accommodate either: GLS, MBF/U, MB/U, SOI/H or SOX. This is my first Solumbra, and it runs 26W SOX-E on a remote-gear. This one sports the wider GRP canopy, and many of the parts have the "REVO" branding, meaning this Solumbra was one of the first produced under Simplex Lighting (before the design was changed). Thank you to AgentHalogen_87 for giving me this lantern from his collection.
Fitted atop the lantern's hat is a Zodion SS6 photocell, dated to October 2015. This would have been a recent addition but the NEMA socket looks original.
In the centre of the GRP hat is a screw-knob with the "REVO" name on it. Unscrewing it will release the canopy which can then be lifted off the lantern entirely.
On the underside the NEMA cell socket is visible, but this has been bypassed.
The lantern's skeleton is exposed with the removal of the bowl. There isn't much to see inside but notice the two screws in the very base of the lantern. This Solumbra has the earlier two-part base, and it's believed the design changed soon after.
The lantern powered up using this gear board.
