Urbis' ZX12 is named as such as the lantern uses a ZX1 optic inside a ZX2 body. This one is in remarkable condition overall, having been in service about 14 years. It features a flat-glass SEALSAFE™ optic. This example was mounted post-top during it's service, and was removed in favour of LED between 2023-2024. From above, the lantern is indistinguishable from a ZX2 with flat-glass.
Underneath, though, the difference is obvious.
A NEMA cell is situated in the centre of the rear part of the canopy.
Two clips attached to the rear-canopy grip the base of the lantern, keeping the canopy locked. Unlatching these releases the canopy; the rear section hinges open to allow maintenance and lamp changes.
An identification-sticker is located on the underside of the canopy, and provides an exact production date for the lantern: 8th June 2009. The ink actually has someone's finger prints in it, likely from them not allowing the ink adequate time to dry when the sticker was stamped. This stamp has now faded, and is only-just visible between Urbis' logo and telephone number.
The gear inside appears original, and it's no surprise with the lantern only being 16 years old.
Both the ignitor and capacitor occupy a small outstretch of the tray specifically designed for their mounting.
With the lantern in such good condition, it's no surprise it powered on without a hitch!
