This was the 4th WRTL 2600 to enter my collection. It's a rather unique example, and was gifted to me by fellow collector AgentHalogen_87. At first glance, it looks like nothing more than a painted 2600, but it was painted black from the factory! There are a couple of signs pointing to this about the lantern.
The first sign is that the lantern's interior is painted black, including inside the mounting hole and under the clips. The seal and clips are also not painted, neither is the wire holder, seen to the left.
The post top spigot was painted post-factory. A major giveaway is the lack of black paint inside. The side-entry cover also follows this trend.
A standard WRTL NEMA socket is fitted to accommodate the Zodion SS6 photocell.
Opening the bowl reveals the 50W SON-T lamp.
The lantern's gear comprises a MagneTek N70/50-24.2-34 ballast, a Parmar PXV070255 ignitor, and a DNA 10 microfarad capacitor, overall issuing a unique composite gear. An inspection of the capacitor identifies an 11/97 date code. This means the lantern was manufactured around the 11th week (March) of 1997.
The lantern was wired up and powered on for the first time since it entered my collection on the 11th April 2024.
