WRTL's 2600 was a wildly popular lantern throughout Europe, having been able to run a plethora of lamp-types. This is the 7th WRTL 2600 currently in the collection. Unusually, this lantern runs 60W CPO-TW on a retrofit gear-tray, but probably ran SON originally. Because of the lamp-type, the bowl is weakened and yellowed. Notice on one side the lantern is missing a clip.
Fitted is a Zodion SS9 photocell, dated November 2005. This means it is probably original to the lantern.
The fibreglass canopy is in good condition for it's 21 year age!
The lantern also has a side-entry clamp inside, despite having been post-top during it's service.
Undoing the single clip releases the brittle bowl. The first thing that is evident is the unusual reflective gear-tray, not original to the lantern. The identification-sticker was on the previous gear-tray, so this lantern doesn't have one.
A hinge on the bowl gives us a clue as to when this lantern was made: 2003.
The SELC SmartStar 60 looks brand-new. I visited the website listed on the ballast, and I believe SELC has since renamed their company to Itron.
Even the warranty sticker remains intact, although I very much doubt it is still valid.
The newest modification to the lantern was my shoddy cell-bypass, thus rendering the Zodion SS9 obsolete.
The lantern lit, resulting in a rather vibrant display:
