My Collection: PowerMaster S5881 Bulkhead

The PowerMaster S5881 is the slightly larger version of the S5880, which can be seen here. It is available in both black and white, and can use most GLS lamps up to 100W. It's IP44 rating permits it for use in outdoor areas, and this one will actually be going into service on a family member's house. It was purchased from Luminare, Lichfield for just £5.

Removing the lantern from it's box, it's distinctive and recognizable appearance become clear. This is a common design for residential and industrial bulkheads, but I particularly like the glass refractor bowl on the PowerMaster S5881.

It can be opened by removing two screws on either side of the luminaire. It can accept the same types of lamp as the S5880, making it's circular design a stylistic choice.

The lantern has no earth wire as it is double-insulated, confirmed by the square icon on the identification sticker.
