ASD Highway Diamond Micro Lantern Installations
As the name suggests, the ASD Highway Diamond Micro is a tiny LED lantern. Their tiny size is quite-the-sight when installed, and it's no surprise they are the smallest lantern in the Highway Diamond series (and quite possibly the smallest over-all)! They are quite common throughout the UK, and a wide-range of 7W-37W versions were available. They were used in a lot of areas around the UK as PFI replacement lanterns.

Cavendish Bridge
Cavendish Bridge has quite a few of these lanterns dotted-about. The first to be photographed was this example (column 1) on a footpath off the B6540. This image highlights their tiny size quite well!
I believe S2 refers to the optic system the lantern uses.
The lantern is installed on an Abacus raise-and-lower column, and is the only one on the footpath to be. Previously installed here was a Thorn Pilote T1.
Column 17 was highly vandalized, but the lantern was intact. This one uses the S1 optic system.
Following the footpath to the very end, I was greeted to an astonishing sight:
"Whats so astonishing about that?" I hear you ask... Well, let me pan out...
These are the 37W examples, but I think the 12m mounting-height will significantly impact the amount of light that hits the ground. ASD intend for a 4-6m mounting height with this lantern...
My best guess is this abandoned road is now used as a footpath, so the original columns were re-used but footpath lanterns were ordered. This would explain the singular Highway Diamond at the very end, which is technically on the road.
