This lantern is the SOX version of the Z9494. It was purchased from a seller on eBay, and arrived on the 8th January 2025. It's a very small, sleek lantern, just-barely big enough for a 55W SOX lamp. Overall it's in acceptable condition, though it is missing a gasket seal and bowl clip.
The canopy is a simple piece of aluminium, boasting quite a unique shape among other SOX lanterns of the time.
The Zodion SS12C was fitted by me, but it could have had a minicell (or two-parter) previously. Judging by the outline around the cell, it may have been something like a Royce Thompson P42 two-parter.
GEC's logo is present on the front of the canopy:
A section of the column remains seized in the spigot, I have tried to undo the grub-screws, but they wouldn't budge.
There's not much happening inside the lantern, just the lamp and photocell.
The lamp is dated to January 2018.
A gear was supplied with the lantern, but it likely isn't the original gear the lantern ran on.
