The GEC Z9580 is the remote-geared, side-entry version of the Z958X series of lanterns. They are tiny fixtures, and are the smallest SOX lantern with a horizontal lamp. This GEC Z9580 is the first one I received, however I only received both of them about half an hour apart. It ran 35W SOX when in service and now runs 26W SOX-E in my collection. It was installed on a Stanton 5m concrete column.

It's bowl is in better condition than the first Z9580's, only one pock mark on it due to it being shot at, but it has a large crack in it too. It's hinge is also badly damaged and cannot hold the bowl up.

Ok, I lied, the hinge wasn't badly damaged... It was broken off completely! I "fixed" it with Sellotape until I can acquire some glue.

The lantern has a Zodion two part photocell, much like the other one.

With the bowl removed, we can see that the gear tray is in much better condition than the other Z9580s, with minimal rust. Only rust is on the other side, where the wiring is contained. It just has some darkening from the continuous glow of the SOX lamp.

Underneath, we can see that the wiring is almost exactly the same as the other gearless GEC Z9580s, and the same stickers are included! They truly are twins! You  can also see the spotted rust on the top of the gear tray.
