The Philips MI50 was the precursor to the MI26. The general shape of the lantern is similar to the Thorn Beta 5, but it has a more-squarish appearance. It's canopy is made from diecast aluminium, with an acrylic bowl. The bowl would later be used on the Philips MI26. The lantern can come in remote or integral-geared versions. The MI50-OO is the remote-geared version with the MI50-GO being the gear-in-head version. This is the MI50-OO.
It was gifted to me by another collector, AgentHalogen_87. It runs 35W SOX and is in as-received condition (minus a clean!) This beauty runs on a Zodion SS6 photocell.
The photocell socket on this lantern is date coded 3 85, translating to the March of 1985; close to the lantern's manufacture date!
The lantern was taken apart on 22/03/2024 for cleaning.
